Melkweg (‘Milky Way’ in English) is an Amsterdam institution. The organisation itself encompasses a club, cafe bar, gallery and theatre. You will find art and music side by side in this cultural ‘hub’.

Melkweg is on the Lijnbaansgracht behind Leidseplein in Club Alley just past Sugar Factory. Late on in the night, the line outside tells you something though: Melkweg is a firm favorite with locals and visitors whatever the night.

Melkweg offers a down to earth laid back appeal to a mixed crowd. Musically, Melkweg is eclectic with a focus on world music. Nights vary form one to the next, one day it’ll be Latin, the next Hip Hop. Some nights there’ll be two clubs in one and you need to choose which one you opt for. Oh, and there’s often confusion as to which one you wanted to go to.
