It seems 2008 is the 90’s comeback reincarnation of “Girl Power”, and what with the long-awaited Sex and the City movie release, diva’s of the 80’s are following suit. On 2nd November, Cyndi Lauper will be performing some of her timeless classics at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. Her spunky style and character, along with her catchy emancipating ditty “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” have made her a household name. On the more commercial side, her touching ballad “True Colours” has been immortalized in tv ads worldwide by Kodak and Dove.

However, this is not Cyndi’s long-awaited return to Holland despite her 12 year break from the music industry. Less than 2 yrs ago, she performed for the popular collaborative concert Night of the Proms in Rotterdam, and had received favorable reactions from her fans for a comeback. Tracks from her new album “Bring ya to the Brink” can be found on her MySpace page, and word of mouth is that it’s one of Cyndi’s best albums in years. With her collaboration with Kleerup and Basement Jaxx, this new material of beat drive music proves Cyndi is still in touch with the times and always up for pushing artistic territory!
