Open during the summer of 07, this venue has already become an important place for the Paris music scene. La Mécanique Ondulatoire is neither a bar nor a club, but something in between with three different floors; a bar/lounge on the ground floor, a basement for concerts and a gallery and exhibition space on the first floor. Three styles, three vibes but one type of ‘in’ crowd who know what’s what in art and music. There are concerts and DJ sets every night in the basement, often with free entry but it can go up to 10€ for more prestigious acts. The bar already has a solid reputation for jazz and blues concerts with their ‘Jazz en ville’ events on Tuesday nights. The rest of the week the sound is pretty pop, rock and electro orientated. As it’s a little tucked away from the Bastille route it doesn’t attract the tourists or the suburbanites associated with the area, and is set to become an important player on the Paris night scene.
