Private and intimate clubs are the in thing in Paris at the moment, and Roxanne the hostess at L’Alternative saw the niche when she took over her Grandfather’s cabaret- theatre Le Capricorne. A new venue is born, an alterative spot with a minimal, chic, decedent, trashy and glamorous vibe. This tiny velveteen club, with a capacity of 100 people, remains a secret address passed on through word of mouth by Parisians in the know. It could soon become the new but more decedent sexy and sensual ‘Baron’ without the showy side. It doesn’t appeal to everyone. Well-dressed rich kids drop by for a quick drink but don’t stay more than half an hour perhaps because the music is too electro and the atmosphere too colorful for them. This isn’t one of the models and bottles club that you find on rue de Pnthieu, L’Alternative remains a unique venue in Paris where you can dance to the sounds of tomorrow’s European electro Djs.
