When it opened in 99 Batofar was one of the most adventurous clubs in Paris and its modern thinking and international outlook have paved the way for many other local clubs and concert venues. These days the programme is a little less avant-garde although the venue is still a platform for up-and-coming local acts in rock, hip-hop, dancehall, drum n’bass, house and techno styles featuring both live music and DJ sets. International acts are also given plenty of space and more niche events such as Gothic and Trance nights are a regular feature. Batofar is at its prime in the summer months when deckchairs and tables are set out on the quayside, Djs play outside on deck and parties can go on from Saturday right through into Sunday night.
